Cashboard vs CoinMarketCap Portfolio

CoinMarketCap Portfolio is a ledger that works out profit and loss from the trades you log. Cashboard keeps no ledger. It shows what your wallets, Hyperliquid accounts and hand-typed holdings are worth now, on a board that needs no sign-up. CoinMarketCap can also read an on-chain address or a supported exchange account, and it has phone apps. If profit since purchase is the number you check every morning, stay with CoinMarketCap.

What is CoinMarketCap Portfolio?

CoinMarketCap is the crypto price and data site founded in 2013 and bought by Binance in April 2020. Its portfolio tracker is free and tied to a CoinMarketCap account. You fill a portfolio by entering transactions, by adding on-chain addresses that update on their own, or by logging in with a supported exchange, and it tracks your balance and profit or loss. You can keep more than one portfolio, and they sync with the CoinMarketCap apps for iOS and Android. CoinMarketCap says the portfolio is for tracking only and holds no funds.

Frequently asked questions

Can Cashboard import a CoinMarketCap portfolio?

No. There is no import and no sync with CoinMarketCap. Coins in a self-custody wallet are the easy part: paste the public address into a Portfolio widget and the balances load, though BNB Chain and Avalanche wallets are not indexed. A Hyperliquid account goes into a Perps positions widget. Coins held anywhere else go into a manual portfolio, one amount at a time, priced from CoinGecko. Your buy history stays at CoinMarketCap, since Cashboard only stores amounts.

Does Cashboard track profit and loss?

Not since purchase. A manual portfolio applies each coin's 24 hour price move to what you hold today, and that is the only gain or loss it works out. Hyperliquid is the exception: the Perps positions widget shows the unrealized PnL Hyperliquid reports for each open position, with its ROE.
