What is a token contract address?
A token contract address is the on-chain address that identifies one specific token (the mint address on Solana) and separates the real one from copies.
How does a token contract address work?
Names and tickers are not unique. Anyone can deploy a token called USDC or copy the name of whatever memecoin is trending. On EVM chains the contract address is the address of the token's smart contract, on Solana it is the mint address, and in memecoin chats people skip the name and just post the CA.
Getting the address right is the main defense against fakes. Scammers deploy lookalikes with the same name and logo, then wait for people who search by name. Take the address from the project's own channels or a listing you trust, never from a reply under a viral post.
The address tells you more than identity. On an explorer you can see supply, holders and whether the contract is verified, and on EVM chains whether it has functions like minting or blacklisting. On Solana, check the mint and freeze authorities. If the freeze authority is still active, someone can lock your tokens.
Two tokens named after the same meme show up on a trending list minutes apart. One has a mint address matching the creator's post, real liquidity and a few thousand holders. The other has a different address and one wallet holding most of the supply. On a chart they look the same. Only the address tells them apart.
Also called: contract address, CA, mint address, token address.
Where does a token contract address show up in Cashboard?
Every Launchpad radar row opens that token's page on pump.fun or Raydium, in a new tab on the web or as a web widget on the board in the desktop app. Trending on-chain lists pools with their age, liquidity and buy and sell counts. Base launches rows open the coin on Zora or the token on Clanker the same way, and the DexScreener figures they borrow are matched by contract address, never by name. Token terminal opens a token on Solana, Base, Ethereum, HyperEVM or Robinhood Chain from a pasted address, after checking that the address fits the network you picked. None of these widgets vets a token. Match the address against the project's own channels before you trust a name.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know a token contract address is real?
Compare it with the address on the project's official site or verified social accounts, then look it up on an explorer. A name or ticker proves nothing on its own.
