What are Zora coins?

Zora coins are tokens on Base made through Zora: a creator coin for each profile, a content coin for each post, and trend coins for topics.

How do Zora coins work?

On Zora, posts trade. Every account gets a creator coin whose ticker is the username, and every post becomes a content coin that is paired with that creator coin by default. The coins live on Base, each in its own Uniswap v4 pool, and a creator or content coin trade pays a 1% fee split between the creator, referrers, the protocol and liquidity providers.

The two main kinds are built differently. A creator coin has a fixed supply of 1 billion. Half goes to the market at launch, and the other 500 million vest to the creator in a straight line over five years. It trades against ZORA. A content coin also has 1 billion, but the creator gets 10 million up front and the other 990 million are for trading. A third kind, trend coins for topics and memes, puts the whole billion in the pool and charges 0.01% a trade.

That vesting is the part buyers tend to skip. Anyone holding a creator coin sits next to a creator whose unlocked supply grows every day for five years, and all of it can be sold. Content coins come from ordinary posts, so plenty of them have only a handful of holders, and one trade in a pool that thin can put a coin at the top of a gainers list.

Zora reports a coin's 24h change as dollars of market cap, not as a percentage. Say a content coin sits at a $150,000 cap and Zora reports a gain of $50,000 over the day. Yesterday it was worth $100,000, so the move is +50%, and that is how Cashboard shows it.

Also called: creator coins, content coins, Zora creator coins, Zora content coins.

Where do Zora coins show up in Cashboard?

The Base launches widget reads Zora's explore API. New lists the latest coins, while Trending, Gainers and Top keep Zora's own order and hide coins with fewer than 25 holders. Each row carries a Creator or Content tag, the creator's handle or wallet, the coin's age, market cap, 24h change, volume and holder count; any coin that is not a creator coin gets the Content tag. On the New list, missing figures and pool liquidity come from the most liquid DexScreener pair.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a creator coin and a content coin?

A creator coin belongs to a profile, trades against ZORA and gives its creator 500 million of the 1 billion supply, vested over five years. A content coin belongs to one post, gives the creator 10 million at once and by default trades against that creator's coin.

Where do Zora coins trade?

On Base, each in its own Uniswap v4 pool. The Zora app trades through those pools, and because they are public on-chain pools, DEX screeners such as DexScreener can list them too.
