How to monitor Hyperliquid funding rates
Add the Funding rates widget. It lists every active perp on Hyperliquid's main market list with its current 1h funding rate, the same rate as an APR, open interest and 24h volume, refreshed every 30 seconds. Positive funding means longs pay shorts.
Step by step
- 1
Add the widget
Hit Ctrl K, type funding and run Add funding rates. In the Add panel the same widget is HL funding, inside the Hyperliquid group, which starts collapsed. One table covers the whole main market list, so this is the only widget the setup needs.
- 2
Pick a sort
The sort buttons are Extreme, Longs pay, Shorts pay, OI and Volume. Extreme ranks by the size of the rate in either direction. It is usually the view to open first.
- 3
Filter and size it
Type a ticker into the filter box to narrow the list. The row limit goes Top 10, 15, 25 or 50.
- 4
Read a row
Each row has the mark price with its 24h change, the 1h rate with its APR, then open interest in dollars with 24h volume under it. Under the market name you get the max leverage and the current premium.
- 5
Read the bar
The bar under each rate is scaled to the most extreme market in view. Green runs right when longs pay, red runs left when shorts pay.
- 6
Add a chart
Put a Price chart beside the table for the market you care about, with 1D, 7D or 30D candles.
Tips
- 0.01% an hour works out to 87.6% a year, which is what the APR column shows. It assumes the rate holds for a whole year, which it never does. Fine for comparing markets, useless as an income forecast.
- Even when a perp trades right at its index, Hyperliquid funding includes an interest part of 0.00125% per hour, about 11% APR paid by longs. A market showing roughly 11% is close to neutral, not crowded.
- Delisted markets and markets with zero open interest are hidden.
- For more rows on screen, make the widget taller, not wider.

Frequently asked questions
How often is Hyperliquid funding paid?
Every hour, which is why the widget shows a 1h rate and not the 8h figure many exchanges quote. Hyperliquid caps it at 4% per hour. The rate follows the gap between the perp and its oracle price, so it can change from one hour to the next. To see Binance and Bybit on the same coins, each annualized from its own interval, open the Funding view of Hyperliquid markets (HL markets in the Add panel).
Does positive funding mean the price will fall?
No. Positive funding means longs are paying shorts, usually because the perp trades above its index. It tells you how people are positioned right now. It says nothing reliable about where price goes next.
