USDC live price dashboard
USDC is meant to sit at one dollar. The part worth watching is when it does not, and where the supply is moving. The board below tracks the peg, the supply and the chains USDC lives on.
What is USDC?
USDC is a dollar stablecoin issued by Circle since 2018. Each token is redeemable one for one for US dollars and is backed by cash and short-dated US Treasuries, checked in a monthly attestation. It is issued natively on many chains, including Ethereum, Solana and Base, and it pays gas on Circle's own Arc network.
USDC launched in September 2018 under Centre, a consortium formed by Circle and Coinbase. Centre was wound down in 2023 and Circle now runs the token alone. Circle listed on the NYSE in June 2025 under the ticker CRCL, six weeks before the GENIUS Act gave US payment stablecoins their first federal rulebook.
Supply changes only when someone mints or redeems with Circle. Most reserves sit in the Circle Reserve Fund (USDXX), a government money market fund managed by BlackRock, and the rest is cash at banks. Deloitte checks the numbers every month. The bank cash is the part people remember: in March 2023 Circle had $3.3 billion stuck at Silicon Valley Bank, and USDC fell to about 87 cents over a weekend before recovering.
Circle moves USDC between chains with CCTP, which burns tokens on one chain and mints them on the other, so no wrapped version is involved. Arc, Circle's layer-1 where fees are paid in USDC, opened its mainnet on September 16, 2026.

What do traders watch on USDC?
- Supply growth or contraction, a plain read on demand for dollars on-chain.
- Any drift from $1 when markets are stressed or a bank wobbles.
- How supply splits across Ethereum, Solana, Base and Arc.
How do you check whether USDC holds its peg?
A stablecoin chart is supposed to be boring. What tells you something is the gap to one dollar, which way supply is going and how much of it sits on a single chain. Stablecoin risk shows all three from DefiLlama and flags a row at 0.5% off the peg; Market flows adds the market-wide supply trend.

Frequently asked questions
Who issues USDC?
Circle Internet Group issues and redeems USDC. It is a US company listed on the NYSE as CRCL. Coinbase helped launch USDC in 2018 and still distributes it, but Circle holds the reserves and controls minting.
What is the difference between USDC and USDT?
They are dollar stablecoins from different issuers with different reserves. USDC comes from Circle, with monthly Deloitte attestations and reserves in cash and short Treasuries. USDT comes from Tether, is more than twice as large, dominates exchange pairs and TRON transfers, and holds some gold and bitcoin next to its Treasury bills.
How can I tell if USDC is losing its peg?
Put the Stablecoin risk widget on a board. It shows USDC against one dollar with supply change and chain concentration, marks the row as watch at 0.5% off the peg and high at 2%, and does the same for sharp supply drops. Data comes from DefiLlama.
