What is a portfolio tracker?
A portfolio tracker pulls your crypto from several wallets and exchanges into one view and prices it at current market rates.
How does a portfolio tracker work?
Once your coins live on four chains and two exchanges, a simple question gets hard: what do I own, and what is it worth right now? A tracker answers it by reading public addresses, pulling from exchange APIs or taking manual entries, then pricing everything with market data.
Trackers mostly differ in where your data goes. Some want an account and sync your addresses and exchange API keys to their servers. Read-only keys are convenient, but they are still credentials sitting with a third party. Watching public addresses skips that part. Trackers also disappear. Step Finance, an early Solana dashboard, announced in late February 2026 that it was shutting down after a treasury hack, and its users had to rebuild their setup somewhere else.
Pricing is where totals quietly go wrong. A long-tail token may have no reliable quote, and some trackers fill the gap with a stale or guessed price that inflates the total. Pick one that names the source of each price and flags what it could not check.
Take a made-up setup: SOL and memecoins in one Solana wallet, ETH on Base, some BTC on an exchange. Two watched addresses plus a manual line for the exchange BTC give the full picture, and no credential leaves your hands.
Also called: crypto portfolio tracker, portfolio app.
Where does a portfolio tracker show up in Cashboard?
Each Portfolio widget either watches a public EVM or Solana address or holds a manual list of up to 50 assets, saved with the board on your device. Rows sort by value with each holding as a share of the total, and a manual list also shows the 24 hour move of every coin in it. The Net worth widget adds up only values with a market quote behind them. There is no exchange API syncing, so exchange balances go in by hand.
Frequently asked questions
Do portfolio trackers need my private keys?
No. A real tracker needs public addresses, or read-only API keys if it syncs exchange accounts. A tracker that asks for a seed phrase or private key is trying to rob you.
