How to check Ethereum gas and blob fees
Add the Ethereum pulse to a board. Its Gas row prices Slow, Standard and Fast from the next block's base fee plus recent priority tips, with what a transfer and a swap cost in dollars, and its Blobs tile shows the fee rollups pay to post data. The gas readings come from public Ethereum RPC every 15 seconds, so they price the next block, not an average from an hour ago.
Step by step
- 1
Add the Ethereum pulse
Press Ctrl K, type ethereum and run Add Ethereum pulse (gas, blobs, burn, staking). In the Add panel it is the ETH pulse card in the Ethereum group, which starts collapsed until you open it.
- 2
Read the gas tiers
Slow, Standard and Fast are the next base fee plus the median 10th, 50th and 90th percentile tip of the last 20 blocks. Under each price sit the dollar costs of a 21,000-gas transfer and a 150,000-gas swap.
- 3
See where the base fee is heading
The base fee tile shows the next block's base fee, how far it moved across the sampled blocks and how full they were. Above the 50% mark the base fee climbs, by up to 12.5% per block, so a spike takes a minute or two to build.
- 4
Check the blob fee
In the Blobs tile, the big number is the blob base fee, and Cost per blob turns it into dollars for one 128 KiB blob. Blob space used measures the last 20 blocks against the per-block maximum, 21 blobs since January 2026 with a target of 14, so a reading under about 67% means blocks averaged below target. A fee under a thousandth of a gwei is shown in wei, so it never reads as zero.
- 5
Compare with layer 2s
Press Ctrl K again, type l2, run Add L2 scoreboard and press Cost. It ranks L2s by median transaction cost, from growthepie data (CC BY 4.0) that usually covers the last full UTC day.
Tips
- The dollar costs assume a plain transfer and a 150,000-gas swap. A swap through several pools, a mint or a bridge deposit can use far more gas.
- Select the widget to switch between Full and Compact. Compact keeps the gas tiers, burn and supply and drops the base fee, blob and staking tiles.
- Cashboard's own code never sends a transaction, and its swaps cover Solana, Base and Robinhood Chain, not Ethereum mainnet. Use the tiers to decide what to set in your own wallet.

Frequently asked questions
What is a normal Ethereum gas price?
There is no fixed normal. The base fee follows demand and can move 12.5 percent per block, so a quiet Sunday and a busy mint can differ many times over. The Standard tier, the next base fee plus the median recent tip, is a fair price when you are not racing anyone.
Why do blob fees matter if I only use L2s?
Because your L2 buys blob space to post its batches and bills you for it. The L1 data part of your fee covers that cost. A quiet blob market keeps that part tiny, and a full one pushes it up.
