Ethereum L2 rankings by transactions, fees, cost and stage

The L2 scoreboard ranks Ethereum layer 2s in one sortable table. Each row carries the chain's transactions, daily and weekly active addresses, fees paid by users, profit, rent paid to Ethereum, stablecoin supply, median transaction cost and throughput, all growthepie data used under CC BY 4.0, plus L2BEAT's maturity stage and total value secured. Sort by Txs, Users, TVS, Fees, Cost, Profit, Rent or Stables, where Cost puts the cheapest median transaction first. A second view, Rent 30d, sets each chain's revenue over the last 30 full UTC days against what it paid Ethereum for data and settlement, with the margin left over. Because growthepie publishes once a day, the daily figures usually cover the last full UTC day, and the footer names that day instead of pretending to be live. Ethereum mainnet is left out on purpose, since it settles these chains rather than competing with them.

What does the L2 scoreboard widget show?

  • Transactions on the day, with a bar scaled to the busiest chain
  • Daily and weekly active addresses, which growthepie counts as senders only
  • Fees paid by users on the day and the median transaction cost in dollars
  • Profit on the day, which is fees minus what the chain paid Ethereum, in red when a chain lost money
  • Rent, the amount the chain paid Ethereum that day for data and settlement, and the stablecoin supply on each chain
  • Average throughput in Mgas/s, or n/a when growthepie reports an impossible negative figure
  • The L2BEAT stage (Stage 0, 1 or 2), or a technology label such as Sidechain where there is no stage
  • Total value secured from L2BEAT, with its 7-day change
  • In the Rent 30d view, each chain's revenue, what it paid Ethereum and its margin, with n/a rather than a margin where growthepie reports no costs
  • Base and Robinhood Chain marked as Cashboard venues, ranked in the header and kept on the list when they fall below the row limit

Frequently asked questions

Which chains are on the L2 scoreboard?

Every chain in growthepie's main table except Ethereum mainnet. In October 2026 that was about 26 chains, among them Base, Arbitrum One, OP Mainnet, Robinhood Chain, Linea, Scroll, ZKsync Era, Mantle and Polygon PoS. The count moves as growthepie adds chains. Polygon PoS is a sidechain that L2BEAT does not stage, so its row shows growthepie's Sidechain label instead, and the header counts chains rather than L2s for that reason.

What does the Rent 30d view show?

How much each chain earned in fees over the last 30 full UTC days against what it paid Ethereum for posting its data and settling, blobs included, plus the margin left over. It is growthepie's economics data, used under CC BY 4.0, and it covers fewer chains than the main table. A chain growthepie reports no costs for reads n/a instead of a margin, because a zero would look like a free ride.

How fresh are the figures?

A day or so old, by design. The daily numbers growthepie publishes usually cover the last full UTC day, and the footer says which day. The widget checks for a new file every 30 minutes. If L2BEAT does not answer, an amber line says so, the stage tags disappear and TVS reads n/a instead of a guess.
