Solana priority fees, Jito tips and network congestion

Solana pulse answers one question before you send a transaction: what does it cost to land right now. A label on top says Calm, Busy or Congested. Calm means the median recent slot needed no priority fee and even the 95th percentile stayed at or under 10,000 micro-lamports per CU. Congested means the median itself sits above that 10,000 line, and you should expect to pay the fast tier or a Jito tip. Under the label are the fee tiers, Jito bundle tips, throughput and the epoch clock, refreshed every 10 seconds.

What does the Solana pulse widget show?

  • Priority fee per compute unit at the median, 75th and 95th percentile
  • What each tier costs for a 200,000 CU transaction including the 5,000 lamport base fee, in lamports and dollars
  • Landed Jito bundle tips at the median, 95th and 99th percentile
  • Throughput in TPS, with non-vote TPS
  • Epoch progress and hours left in the epoch

Frequently asked questions

Why watch the Jito tip as well as priority fees?

Priority fees show what ordinary transactions pay. Jito tips show what it costs to get a bundle included, which is where bots and snipers compete during a busy launch.

Does this send transactions?

No. It only reads public RPC and Jito data. It cannot sign or send anything.

How long is a Solana epoch?

432,000 slots, roughly two days. Staking rewards arrive at the epoch boundary, so the widget counts the hours left.
