Dogecoin (DOGE) live price dashboard

DOGE moves on attention first and on everything else later. The board keeps its price and 7-day and 30-day candles next to Bitcoin and Ether, which is usually what it follows when the crowd goes quiet.

What is Dogecoin?

Dogecoin was created in December 2013 by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer as a joke coin featuring the Shiba Inu from the Doge meme. It runs its own proof-of-work chain on the Scrypt algorithm and is merge-mined with Litecoin. There is no supply cap, and roughly 5.26 billion new DOGE are added every year.

Markus, a software engineer at IBM, and Palmer, who worked in marketing at Adobe, launched Dogecoin on December 6, 2013. Its code comes from the Litecoin family, so it uses the same Scrypt mining algorithm, and since 2014 miners have been able to mine both coins at once. That merged mining is a big part of why Dogecoin's hash rate stays high. Kabosu, the Shiba Inu in the original meme, died in May 2024.

A block arrives every minute and pays a fixed 10,000 DOGE, about 5.26 billion new coins a year. Supply passed 150 billion in 2025. Because the yearly addition never changes, inflation falls as a percentage each year and now sits around 3.4%.

Price runs on attention. Elon Musk's posts, his 2021 Saturday Night Live appearance and the Department of Government Efficiency named after the coin all moved it. Since REX-Osprey listed DOJE on September 18, 2025, and Grayscale followed with GDOG that November, US funds buy DOGE alongside the perp crowd.

Frequently asked questions

Does Dogecoin have a max supply?

No. Every block pays a fixed 10,000 new DOGE, about 5.26 billion a year, and that never changes, so inflation slowly falls as a share of a growing supply.

What is the difference between Dogecoin and Shiba Inu?

Dogecoin is a coin on its own proof-of-work blockchain, launched in 2013. Shiba Inu (SHIB) is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, launched in 2020 with the same breed of dog as its mascot and a starting supply of one quadrillion tokens. DOGE has far fewer coins, and its supply grows every year.

Can I track DOGE without an account?

Yes. The DOGE board on this page runs in your browser and saves on your device. Prices come from CoinGecko, and Binance fills in when CoinGecko does not answer. Cashboard does not read Dogecoin wallets, so add your amount to a manual Portfolio and it is priced live.
