Guide
How to share a trading board as a link
Press Share at the top of any board and Cashboard packs the whole layout into the link itself, after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part to a server, so Cashboard never holds a copy of your board. What travels is the setup. What you hold does not.
Step by step
- 1
Finish the layout
Arrange and style the board first. Widget titles, colors, frames and notes all travel with the link.
- 2
Press Share
The Share this board dialog builds the link, with the board packed in after #app?board=, and gives you a Copy button.
- 3
Check what goes with it
The dialog shows how many widgets the link holds and lists any external web app URLs. Settings travel too, such as the symbols you watch and your alert thresholds. If you wrote an address in a note, it goes as well.
- 4
Send the link
Paste it anywhere a URL fits, such as a group chat or a post on X.
- 5
What the recipient sees
They see the widget list, a warning for any external sites, and a field to rename the board. Nothing is saved until they press Add to my boards, and every portfolio widget arrives empty.
Tips
- Cashboard will not open a link whose board part runs past 64,000 characters. Long notes make links long, so trim them on big boards.
- Export this board in Ctrl K is a different thing. The JSON file keeps your addresses, holdings and paper positions, so it is a backup for you, not something to post.
- Paste a link you received into the Open a link someone sent you field at the bottom of the Share dialog.

Frequently asked questions
Does Cashboard store my shared board on a server?
No. The layout is compressed into the URL fragment, which browsers keep to themselves when they request a page. There is no account system holding a copy either.
Will the person I share with see my wallet?
No. Wallet addresses, manual holdings and paper positions are stripped before the link is made. They get the same widgets and can paste their own addresses. Text you typed into notes and titles is shared as written, though.
