Base and Robinhood Chain stats: TPS, gas, TVL and DEX volume

Chain pulse is a health check for Base in one widget: block time, gas, live TPS, TVL, spot DEX volume and stablecoin supply. A switch in its header gives you the same view of Robinhood Chain. Blocks and gas come straight from each chain's public RPC every 15 seconds, daily transactions from L2BEAT and the liquidity figures from DefiLlama. The block age keeps counting between refreshes. It turns amber and says stalled after a minute with no new block, or stale when a refresh fails or 45 seconds pass without one. When one source is down, only its tiles read n/a.

What does the Chain pulse widget show?

  • Latest block number, the average block time and how long ago the newest block landed
  • Gas in gwei, with what a 21,000 gas transfer and a 150,000 gas swap cost in dollars before the L1 data fee
  • Live TPS from the newest blocks next to a full-day average from L2BEAT, plus a line of daily transaction counts
  • On Base, how much of the gas limit the last 20 blocks used, with a base fee line
  • TVL with its 7-day change, 24h spot DEX volume with 1-day and 7-day change, and stablecoin supply with 7-day and 30-day change
  • Up to six of the busiest DEXs by 24h volume, each with its share and 1-day change

Frequently asked questions

Why is the swap cost lower than what my wallet shows?

The tile counts only the L2 execution fee: 150,000 gas, the widget's stand-in for a swap, at the current gas price and Hyperliquid's ETH mid. Every Base transaction also pays an L1 fee for posting its data to Ethereum, and Base's docs say that part is usually the bigger one.

What changes when I switch it to Robinhood Chain?

Robinhood Chain makes a block about every 100 milliseconds, so block time reads in milliseconds, averaged over 600 blocks, and live TPS counts the last 30 blocks instead of 5. The utilization tile disappears, because that chain's fee history gives no usable fill level. The explorer link moves from Basescan to Robinhood Chain's Blockscout explorer, and a default title follows the switch while one you typed stays.
