Aptos (APT) live price dashboard

Aptos is a layer-1 built by Aptos Labs, founded by Mo Shaikh and Avery Ching after they worked on Meta's Diem project. This board puts APT beside BTC and ETH with 7-day and 30-day candles.

What is Aptos?

Aptos is a layer-1 built by Aptos Labs, founded by Mo Shaikh and Avery Ching after they worked on Meta's Diem project. Mainnet went live in October 2022, running the Move language on a parallel execution engine called Block-STM. APT pays for gas and secures the network through staking, and stakers also vote on governance proposals.

Shaikh and Ching came from Diem, the stablecoin project Meta shut down, and brought its Move language with them. Block-STM runs transactions in parallel and re-executes only the ones that conflict. Mainnet launched on October 17, 2022. Shaikh stepped down as CEO in December 2024 and Ching took over.

Aptos started with 1 billion APT and no supply cap, paying staking rewards out of inflation. That changed in 2026. Holders passed a Foundation proposal that set a hard cap of 2.1 billion APT, cut staking rewards from 5.19% to about 2.6% and raised gas fees tenfold. Every bit of that gas is burned. The Foundation also locked and staked 210 million APT for good.

Supply still grows toward the cap through monthly unlocks, about 11.3 million APT a month in 2026, to contributors, investors and the community. Whether burns ever outpace that depends on usage. Even after the fee hike, a stablecoin transfer costs a fraction of a cent.

Frequently asked questions

What is the max supply of APT?

The max supply is 2.1 billion APT, set by a governance vote in 2026. Before that Aptos had no hard cap, and about 1.2 billion APT existed when the cap passed.

How is Aptos different from Sui?

Both came out of the Diem team at Meta and both use Move, but they split on design. Aptos kept an account-based Move close to the Diem original, while Sui rebuilt Move around objects and runs a different consensus.

Can I track APT without an account?

Yes. The APT board on this page runs in your browser and saves on your device. Prices come from CoinGecko. Cashboard does not read Aptos wallets, so add your amount to a manual Portfolio and it is priced live.
