Bitcoin (BTC) live price dashboard
Bitcoin trades on spot books and on perp venues around the clock, and the perps side is where leverage shows up first. This board keeps the BTC price, its candles and the funding traders pay to hold it in one view.
What is Bitcoin?
Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency, launched in January 2009 by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto. Miners secure it with proof of work, and supply is capped at 21 million coins. Since January 2024 it also trades through US spot ETFs.
Satoshi Nakamoto published the white paper on October 31, 2008 and mined the genesis block on January 3, 2009. New bitcoin only enters circulation as a block reward. Blocks arrive about every ten minutes, and the reward halves every 210,000 blocks, roughly every four years. Since the April 2024 halving it has been 3.125 BTC.
The 20 millionth coin was mined on March 9, 2026. The last million will trickle out until around 2140. So new supply hardly matters any more, and demand does the work.
In 2026 most of that demand shows up in two places: US spot ETFs and perp exchanges. Watch them together. A rally with hot funding and flat ETF flows is running on borrowed money, and those tend to unwind fast. Bitcoin also still reacts to US rates, so CPI prints and Fed meetings move it more than most crypto news does.

What do traders watch on BTC?
- Daily spot ETF flows, and whether price follows them.
- Funding and open interest on perp venues when price breaks a range.
- US macro days, CPI and FOMC above all.
How does BTC funding compare across perp venues?
BTC is one of three assets the Perps risk widget follows. Hyperliquid settles funding every hour, while Lighter and Aster run on their own clocks, so Cashboard converts all of them to an hourly rate before comparing. Jupiter Perpetuals publishes volume only, and the widget leaves its funding blank rather than guessing.

Frequently asked questions
What is the maximum supply of bitcoin?
21 million BTC. More than 20 million had been mined by March 2026, and the rest is released on the halving schedule until about 2140. Coins lost to forgotten keys still count toward the 21 million, so the supply anyone can actually spend is lower.
When is the next bitcoin halving?
The next halving is expected in 2028, when the block reward drops from 3.125 to 1.5625 BTC. It is triggered at block 1,050,000, so the exact day depends on how fast miners find blocks.
Where can I compare BTC funding across venues?
The Perps risk widget lines up BTC funding and open interest from Hyperliquid, Lighter and Aster as an hourly rate, and adds Jupiter Perpetuals volume. The spread between the cheapest and dearest venue is the number to watch.
