Solana (SOL) live price dashboard
Solana trades on spot books and on perp venues around the clock, and the perps side is where leverage shows up first. This board keeps the SOL price, its candles and the funding traders pay to hold it in one view.
What is Solana?
Solana is a proof-of-stake layer-1 designed by Anatoly Yakovenko, with mainnet beta live since March 2020. It orders transactions with Proof of History, a verifiable clock, and SOL pays fees and is staked with validators. It carries a big share of on-chain memecoin trading and DEX volume.
Yakovenko published the Proof of History white paper in 2017, and mainnet beta went live on March 16, 2020. Half of every base fee is burned. New SOL comes from staking inflation, which started at 8% a year in 2021 and has been cut by 15% each year toward a 1.5% floor.
That schedule is set to speed up once the change activates. On August 28, 2026 validators approved SIMD-0550, which doubles the yearly cut to 30% and should reach 1.5% in under three years instead of almost six. It passed with 67.001% of the vote, a hair over the two-thirds bar, and switches on through a feature gate once a required rewards-math change ships and enough validators run it. Alpenglow, a new consensus aiming at finality of about 150 milliseconds, went live on Solana's testnet in September 2026. Mainnet comes next, and no date has been set.
Day to day, SOL moves with the trenches. When launches on pump.fun and memecoin volume spike, Jito tips and priority fees climb with them. And since Bitwise listed BSOL on October 28, 2025, US spot ETFs that stake their SOL have become a second kind of buyer.

What do traders watch on SOL?
- DEX volume and new launches on pump.fun and Raydium LaunchLab.
- Priority fees and Jito tips, the quickest read on demand for blockspace.
- Liquid staking yields and flows into the US Solana ETFs.
How does SOL funding compare across perp venues?
SOL is one of three assets the Perps risk widget follows. Hyperliquid settles funding every hour, while Lighter and Aster run on their own clocks, so Cashboard converts all of them to an hourly rate before comparing. Jupiter Perpetuals publishes volume only, and the widget leaves its funding blank rather than guessing.
How does SOL on Solana compare with its Hyperliquid perp?
Solana edge puts the on-chain price of SOL next to its Hyperliquid perp where one exists. The gap is the basis. Add funding APR, carry and the share of volume trading spot, and you can see whether perps traders are paying up relative to the chain.
What is SOL used for on Solana?
SOL pays for gas on Solana. The Solana page covers watch-only wallets, trending pools and network status: block height, block age, fees and how fast the RPC answers.

Frequently asked questions
Does Solana have a maximum supply?
No, SOL has no hard cap. New SOL is paid out as staking rewards at a rate that falls every year toward a 1.5% floor, and half of every base fee is burned. The inflation rate was about 3.65% in mid-September 2026.
What is Proof of History?
Proof of History is a verifiable clock built from a sequential hash function. It lets validators agree on the order of transactions without first talking to each other, which helps Solana produce blocks quickly. It works alongside proof of stake and does not replace it.
Where can I compare SOL funding across venues?
The Perps risk widget lines up SOL funding and open interest from Hyperliquid, Lighter and Aster as an hourly rate, and adds Jupiter Perpetuals volume. The spread between the cheapest and dearest venue is the number to watch.
