Hedera (HBAR) live price dashboard
Hedera is a public ledger that reaches consensus with hashgraph, an algorithm invented by Leemon Baird, instead of a chain of blocks. This board puts HBAR beside BTC and ETH with 7-day and 30-day candles.
What is Hedera?
Hedera is a public ledger that reaches consensus with hashgraph, an algorithm invented by Leemon Baird, instead of a chain of blocks. Its mainnet opened in 2019 and is governed by the Hedera Council, a group of term-limited companies and universities. HBAR pays network fees and is staked to secure it.
Hedera grew out of Swirlds, the company Leemon Baird and Mance Harmon built around the hashgraph patent. No miners. No block producer. Nodes gossip transactions to each other and agree on their order by virtual voting. In September 2024 Hedera handed its whole codebase to the Linux Foundation, where it lives on as the Hiero project.
All 50 billion HBAR were created at genesis. Nothing is mined. The council treasury holds what is not yet circulating and releases it on a schedule, and about 87 percent was out by mid-2026. Fees are priced in US dollars and converted to HBAR when you pay, so a transfer costs the same fraction of a cent whether HBAR doubles or halves. The first price change since 2019 came in January 2026, when a consensus service message went from $0.0001 to $0.0008. Every other fee stayed the same.
Because fees are fixed at a fraction of a cent, even a busy network creates little demand for HBAR. The price follows ETF flows and enterprise headlines instead, and headlines fade within days.

Frequently asked questions
What is the max supply of HBAR?
50 billion HBAR, all minted when the network launched. No new HBAR is created. The Hedera Council treasury holds the rest and releases it over time, and about 87 percent was circulating by mid-2026.
Is Hedera a blockchain?
Not in the strict sense. Hedera uses hashgraph, where nodes share transactions by gossip and agree on their order through virtual voting, so there are no blocks or miners. For wallets and exchanges it behaves like any proof-of-stake network, with accounts, tokens, smart contracts and fees paid in HBAR.
Can I track HBAR without an account?
Yes. The HBAR board on this page runs in your browser and saves on your device. Prices come from CoinGecko. Cashboard does not read Hedera wallets, so add your amount to a manual Portfolio and it is priced live.
