What is Arbitrum One?

Arbitrum One is Offchain Labs' optimistic rollup on Ethereum, live since August 2021 on the Nitro stack. The Arbitrum DAO governs the chain through the ARB token, and perps and yield traders use it heavily, partly because Hyperliquid keeps its USDC bridge here.

Arbitrum One produces a block every 250 milliseconds. Fees are usually well under a cent, split between running the transaction on Arbitrum and posting its data to Ethereum. Since April 2025 a Timeboost auction sells an express lane in 60-second rounds: the winner skips the 200 millisecond delay everyone else gets. Arbitrage bots care. Almost nobody else will notice.

Offchain Labs runs the sequencer. Anyone can challenge a wrong state with a fraud proof, and since the BoLD upgrade in February 2025 that validation is permissionless. Withdrawals to Ethereum through the native bridge still take about a week.

The trading here leans toward perps and yield, with GMX, Pendle and Aave, while Uniswap and Camelot carry most spot swaps. Robinhood issued its first EU Stock Tokens on Arbitrum One in June 2025, a year before it launched its own chain on the same Arbitrum stack.
