Find what you see, then fix it

Find the message or behaviour in the tables below, read the likely cause and follow the fix. Most problems come from a data source that did not answer, a feature that exists only in Cashboard Desktop, or a limit of the web build. If nothing here matches, write to contact@cashboard.live with the details listed at the end.

Documentation menu

Before you report a problem

Run these checks before you read the tables. They settle many cases in a minute.

  1. Read the widget header. The line under the title names the data source, and the pill on the right shows the age of the oldest reading, or Stale or Source down when the source failed. The How to read this widget button beside it opens a note, and in some widgets that note reports a problem, such as how many wallets could not be read.
  2. Press Try again, Retry or the refresh icon. The app already retries a failed read before it shows an error, so a card that still fails has tried more than once.
  3. Open the status page. It shows whether the core crypto and stock quote feeds answer and which services are configured. It does not test every third-party source, so one widget can fail while the page reads operational.
  4. Note which build you run. The web app at cashboard.live keeps boards in your browser and cannot store keys. In the desktop app, the Desktop updates button in the top bar opens Cashboard updates, which shows the Installed version.
  5. Look at the save status in the top bar. Saved locally means the board is on this device, and Save failed means it is not.
  6. Export any board you cannot rebuild. Press Ctrl K on Windows or Cmd K on macOS and run Export this board. Cashboard keeps no automatic backup, and the web app has no copy on a server.

Widgets that show an error, an old reading or nothing

Most widgets keep their last reading when a refresh fails and say so. They show an error card only when they have nothing earlier to show. Data sources describes the retries and fallbacks behind these states.

Widget states, their causes and what to do
What you seeLikely causeWhat to do
An error card such as Market data is temporarily unavailable. or Chart data is temporarily unavailable, often with The data source did not respond. Your board is still saved. The source did not answer after the app's own retries, and the widget has no earlier reading to show.Press Try again. Nothing on your board is lost. If every widget fails at once, check your connection and the status page. In the desktop app, a CoinGecko Demo key under Connections raises the quote and chart limits.
A note such as Update delayed. Showing the latest available prices. in Prices and Watchlist, Update delayed · showing the last candles in Price chart, or Refresh failed · showing the reading from 2m ago in PortfolioThe last refresh failed, so the widget shows its previous reading and tries again at the next interval.Treat the numbers as old until the note disappears. Press Retry or the refresh icon to ask again.
The header pill reads Updated with an age of several minutesThe age is that of the oldest reading in the widget, taken from the provider's own timestamp, so a thinly traded coin can read old although Cashboard asked seconds ago. Prices and Watchlist ask every 15 seconds and Price chart every 60.Press the refresh icon. If the age stays the same, the provider has nothing newer. Data sources explains which clock each widget's pill reads.
An amber Reconnecting badge next to the pricesThe live price stream dropped and reconnects by itself, waiting up to 30 seconds. Coins without a stream, such as USDC and USDT, refresh every 15 seconds only.Nothing to do. Prices keep refreshing from CoinGecko every 15 seconds meanwhile.
Partial update · unavailable: BTC, ETHThe source returned no quote for those coins or symbols, and the rest loaded.Wait for the next refresh. For a stock ticker, check the spelling.
A Stale tag, a stale · 4m tag, or a widget body dimmed to a lighter shadeThe newest reading is older than the widget allows: 90 seconds for a watch-only Portfolio, 45 for a manual one, 3 minutes for Price chart candles and 30 seconds for Perps positions. Refreshes keep failing, or the widget is out of view and not refreshing.Press the refresh icon. The canvas draws only the widgets in view, so a widget you panned away from, and any board you left, stops refreshing. Bring the widget back into view.
Scrolling or clicking inside a widget moves the board instead, the pill Click to use this widget shows, or a search box or address field you expect is missingA widget works in two steps. The first click selects it, and until you use it a shield passes scrolling and pinching to the canvas. Search boxes, address fields and row-limit switches appear only while you use a widget. The Hand tool, and holding Space, send every gesture to the canvas.Click the widget, then click it again, double-click it or press Enter. Press Esc to leave it. Press V or choose Select tool to leave the Hand tool. Boards and canvas explains the two states.

Portfolios, balances and positions

These rows cover Portfolio, Net worth and Perps positions, which read public addresses only. Portfolios explains how the totals are built.

Portfolio problems, their causes and what to do
What you seeLikely causeWhat to do
In the web app, Portfolio data is temporarily unavailable and Your address and local portfolio are still saved. on an EVM networkThe hosted site asks Blockscout without a key. As of 7 October 2026 it answers for Ethereum, OP Mainnet, Linea, Scroll, ZKsync Era and Gnosis. It fails for Base, Arbitrum One, Robinhood Chain, Polygon PoS, Arc and HyperEVM, because several public Blockscout hosts refuse its server requests and the HyperEVM host no longer answers. A wallet with a very long token list can also fail anywhere when Blockscout takes more than 12 seconds.Pick a network that answers, or use Cashboard Desktop with a Blockscout connection. The list changes with the hosts, so treat it as a snapshot. Blockscout has the current picture.
The same message in the desktop appBlockscout failed for that network. The desktop app asks the same public hosts from its own process and can be refused too.Save a Blockscout connection for that one network: https://api.blockscout.com/<chain id> as API URL, your key, and the same network under Chain. Press Test, then refresh the widget. Cashboard has no verified route for HyperEVM or Arc. Connect a key has the steps.
The same message on BNB Chain or Avalanche C-ChainNo provider reads those two networks, although the network list offers them.In the desktop app, a Coinbase RPC connection saved for that exact network shows the native balance only, with no price and no tokens. Otherwise track the address in a Manual portfolio.
No balances on Base, or the name of another networkThe address holds nothing on that network that the indexer can see. Only the native coin and ERC-20 tokens are read, never NFTs.Check the network in the Portfolio chain list. The same 0x address can hold funds on several networks.
A holding you expect is missing, and a line under the list reads 2 under $1 and 1 unpriced hiddenHide dust is on from the start for a watch-only portfolio. It hides holdings worth under $1 and tokens without a price, while the total still counts every priced holding.Select Show in that line, or the Hide dust button in the widget header.
A wallet's token list ends early, with no noticeCashboard reads only the first page of a wallet's EVM token balances from Blockscout and does not follow the next-page links.Nothing in Cashboard reads the rest. Use the explorer link on the widget to see the full list.
n/a as a token's price, 1 holding has no price and is not in the total, Unverified SPL token, or on Solana every token unpriced and the total n/aThe source has no price for the token. EVM prices come from Blockscout. A Solana token counts as priced only when DexScreener lists a pair for it, and only a wallet's first 119 token mints are priced. If the DexScreener lookup fails, the widget shows no prices and no error. The total leaves unpriced tokens out by design. Look the token up on an explorer before you rely on any value, and refresh after a minute if every token lost its price.
That is a Solana address., That is an EVM address. Pick its network in the list. or An EVM address is 0x followed by 40 hex characters. The address does not match the selected network, or it is incomplete. Names such as ENS names are not resolved.Choose the right network, or select Switch to Solana. Paste the full public address.
Perps positions shows No open perpetual positions, or a position you hold on Hyperliquid is missingThe address may be an API or agent wallet, which signs for the main account and holds nothing itself. Or a builder dex did not answer: the widget reads the main perp dex and every builder dex (HIP-3, such as stock and commodity perps) with a live market, and names a dex it could not read in an amber strip. A market on a dex that launched in the last 10 minutes is not read until the dex list refreshes.Paste the main account address instead of an API wallet. If the amber strip names a dex, press the refresh icon and check that position on Hyperliquid itself. Perps positions lists what the widget covers.
Net worth shows Partial total, or tags a source unavailable, stale, not counted or n/aNet worth adds up the Portfolio and Perps positions widgets on the same board and counts only priced values. A manual portfolio counts only once every asset in it has a price. A failed source is left out and flagged, never estimated.Fix the failing source widget first, then press Refresh net worth. Net worth describes each tag.

Blockscout and Smart money

Smart money and the EVM side of Portfolio are the two features that read Blockscout. The status codes below come from Blockscout itself, which documents 401 for a bad key and 429 for going over a plan's limit. A public Blockscout host can also answer 403 to a program that is not a browser. As of 7 October 2026 the web app has Smart money and the installed 0.4.2 desktop app does not yet, as the desktop table explains.

Blockscout symptoms, causes and fixes
What you seeLikely causeWhat to do
Needs a Blockscout key in Smart money on the Robinhood networkRobinhood Chain's public Blockscout site sits behind a bot challenge, so Cashboard reads it only through the Blockscout PRO API, which needs a key. Only Cashboard Desktop can store a key, so this network cannot work in the web app.In the desktop app open Connections, then Blockscout. Enter https://api.blockscout.com/4663 as API URL, paste the key, choose Robinhood Chain under Chain and press Save, then Test. An open widget can keep the notice for about two minutes, so wait a minute and press Refresh swaps. Blockscout has the full steps.
No recent swaps, and the How to read this widget note ends with 2 wallet(s) could not be read this round.Blockscout refused or failed the requests for those wallets: a bot challenge on a public host, a rate limit, a bad key or no answer within 12 seconds. A failed wallet is counted in the note, not shown as an error, and Cashboard does not retry.Wait a few minutes and press Refresh swaps. Follow fewer wallets, because every refresh asks for all of them at once. In the desktop app, save a Blockscout key, which moves Base, Ethereum and Robinhood Chain to api.blockscout.com, then press Test.
No recent swaps and no count in the noteThe wallets were read, and none of the newest transactions they started was a swap the widget recognises. Only the latest page of each wallet's history is read.Nothing to fix. Smart money lists what counts as a swap.
Wallet swaps are temporarily unavailable with Blockscout did not answer. Public instances rate-limit heavy reads; try again in a minute. The whole request failed, not only single wallets.Press Try again in a minute.
Blockscout returned 401 after TestBlockscout rejected the key.Copy the key again from the Blockscout developer portal and save the API URL, the key and Chain together.
Blockscout returned 403 after TestMost often the API URL points at a public Blockscout host, and several of those refuse requests that do not come from a browser.Use the PRO address https://api.blockscout.com/<chain id> with your key.
Blockscout returned 429 after Test, or many wallets unreadYou are over your Blockscout plan's request limit. A Smart money refresh with 8 wallets starts up to 16 requests at once, and Cashboard does not retry.Wait, follow fewer wallets, or move to a larger plan. Blockscout's site lists its current plans.
Blockscout is reachable for Base. but a widget still failsTest sends one request to the stats page of the saved address. It does not check that the address matches Chain, and it does not test the other networks Smart money reads.Compare the number in the address with the Chain choice, and check that the widget is on the same network.
Only one network's Portfolio improved after you saved a keyA Blockscout connection serves the single network chosen under Chain for Portfolio, and every other network keeps its public host. Smart money uses the saved key on Base, Ethereum and Robinhood Chain.Save the network you read most. A Coinbase RPC connection for a second network shows its native balance only.

Connections and keys on desktop

Connections exist only in Cashboard Desktop. Connections has a longer table that covers every card.

Connection problems, their causes and what to do
What you seeLikely causeWhat to do
Save is greyed out, with the amber text Secure operating-system storage is unavailable. Connections preconfigured by your administrator can still be used.Cashboard saves a key only in the operating system's secure storage. It refuses when that storage is missing, or when the system offers only basic text storage, because it will not keep a key in readable form.Cashboard cannot work around this and never falls back to a plain file. A connection supplied by an environment variable still works and shows the badge Preconfigured. Connections explains both.
In the web app, the Connections tab reads Protected provider connections are configured in Cashboard Desktop. The web build has no key storage and no entry form.Use Cashboard Desktop to save keys. Connections describes what the web build does instead.

Alerts that stay silent

Alerts depend on where and when they are checked. Alerts has the full table, and these are the three causes behind most silent alerts.

Alert problems, their causes and what to do
What you seeLikely causeWhat to do
Nothing arrives while Cashboard Desktop is closedDesktop alerts run only while the app window is open or minimised. Closing the window quits the app on Windows, and on macOS the app stays in the Dock but checks nothing. A computer that is asleep checks nothing either.Keep the window minimised, not closed, and keep the computer awake. Cashboard has no background service.
A web alert never fires, the note reads can’t notify, or the chip reads Notifications blockedThe web app checks an alert only while its Alert widget is on screen on the open board, in a visible tab, and the browser must allow notifications for the site.Pan the widget into view, keep the tab visible, allow notifications in the browser's site settings, then press Arm again.
The pill reads Triggered, but no new notification arrivesAn alert notifies once, when the value moves from not met to met, and stays quiet until the value leaves the line and reaches it again. In the desktop app a second notification for the same alert within 5 minutes is dropped. The web app has no such cooldown.Wait for the value to cross back and return, or change the threshold.

Flows, Liquidations and Token terminal

These widgets show states that look like faults but come from the data source.

Market widget states, their causes and what to do
What you seeLikely causeWhat to do
Flows has no Bridges or ETFs tab, only Overview, DEX and L2 capital402: DefiLlama bridges are paid, so bridge volume has no free source, and no provider feeds ETF flows. Both tabs were empty and were replaced by L2 capital, which reads L2BEAT. A board saved on either old tab opens L2 capital. A desktop build older than this change still lists the old tabs, with ETF flows: Not available on one of them.Nothing to fix, and the other sections are unaffected. Cashboard has no field for a DefiLlama key, and it never fills the gap with stale or estimated figures. Flows lists the sections.
Waiting for the first liquidation… in Liquidations, and a red dot beside a venue nameBinance, Bybit and OKX block US users, so their live streams can stay unreachable there. The tooltip on the venue reads unreachable from this network, retrying.Cashboard cannot change a network's access. On a network the exchanges accept, rows appear as liquidations happen. Liquidations has the details.
Token terminal is temporarily unavailable with GeckoTerminal rate limit reached: its free API allows about 30 calls a minute per IP. Try again in a minute. One Token terminal refresh uses 4 calls against that limit, so a board with several terminals can reach it. The widget does not retry a rate limit on its own.Wait a minute and press Try again. Keep fewer terminals open on one board. Token terminal describes the refresh.

Dune query, Custom app and Jupiter swap

These widgets depend on the desktop app, on a key you supply or on a third party's code.

Write to support

Write to contact@cashboard.live. A report is easiest to act on when it names exactly what you saw. The desktop app writes no log files and has no crash reporter, so the exact message and a screenshot are the best evidence. The support page and the status page are the other places to look.

  • The platform: the browser and its version for the web app, or Windows or macOS and the Installed version for the desktop app.
  • The widget: its title and type, and the network, symbol or token involved. Add a public address only when it is needed to reproduce the problem.
  • The exact time with your time zone, and what you did immediately before.
  • The exact text of any message, copied as shown, and a screenshot with any address you want to keep private hidden.
  • For a payment problem: the network, the amount and the transaction hash.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a widget show old numbers or an error?

A widget keeps its last reading when a refresh fails and adds a note such as Update delayed. It shows an error card only when it has nothing earlier to show. Press Try again, and read the widget header, which names the source under the title and shows the age of the oldest reading in its pill.

Where can I check whether Cashboard itself has a problem?

Open the status page at cashboard.live/status. It reports whether the core crypto and stock quote feeds answer and which services are configured. It does not test every third-party source, so one widget can fail while the page reads operational.

Why does Cashboard Desktop refuse to save my key?

Cashboard saves keys only in the operating system's secure storage, and it refuses when that storage is missing or offers only basic text storage. The web app cannot save keys at all. A Blockscout connection also needs an API URL next to the key.

Are my boards lost if I clear my browser data?

Yes, for the web app. It keeps boards in your browser's local storage for the site address, with no copy on a server. Export a board with Export this board in the command palette and import it later with Import a board. The desktop app keeps boards in a local database, and uninstalling the program leaves that database in place.

I paid but cannot download. What should I do?

Do not pay again. Press Verify payment under your request after a few minutes, because finality takes time. If the card still does not confirm, write to contact@cashboard.live with the network and the transaction hash. A download link works once and lasts 5 minutes, so press Download again for a new one.

Last checked against the code on . Found something out of date? Write to contact@cashboard.live. Market data comes from the providers named on each widget and may be delayed. Nothing here is financial advice.
