On the board: alerts, notes, frames and web apps

On the board holds the four widgets that carry something you set or wrote instead of a market feed: a price alert rule, a Markdown note, a frame that labels a region, and a web app that embeds a site in Cashboard Desktop. Each has limits that decide whether it is the right tool, and this page states them next to the controls.

What the group holds

Most widgets read a market feed and show it. The four in On the board hold your own content instead: a rule, some text, a label or a web address. They need no data provider to exist, they travel inside share links as you left them, and two of them behave differently on the web and on desktop in ways that matter more than any setting.

Besides the Add panel, the command palette (Ctrl K on Windows, Cmd K on macOS) has Add price alert, Add note and Add web app. It has no Add frame entry; typing build frame offers a Build Frame entry that adds one. In the Style tab, Canvas tools has a Frame button and a Label button, and Label adds a note. On an empty board, Quick note adds a note.

None of the 12 starting templates includes these four widgets, so they appear on a board only when you added them or the author of a shared board did.

Select first, then activate

A click on a widget selects it and shows a Click to use this widget hint. A second click, a double click, or Enter on the selected widget makes it active. Until then the canvas takes your clicks and scrolling, so the alert form and the note editor do not respond. A widget you have just added starts active, and Esc leaves an active widget.

The widgets below describe their controls as they appear once active. For moving, resizing, locking and restyling widgets, see Boards and canvas.

Price alert

A rule that watches one number and notifies you once each time it reaches your line: a coin's price, a Solana asset's Hyperliquid funding APR, or the basis between its perp and its spot price. It never places an order.

Add panelOn the board, then Alert. The widget header reads Price alert.
Works inWeb and desktop
NeedsNo key. Alerts reach you only while the desktop app is running (open or minimised) or while a browser tab stays open, and a browser needs notification permission. Funding APR and Basis cover 12 Solana assets only.

What it shows

  • One row under Alert, Now · gap and Status: the logo and ticker, a tag (Price, Funding or Basis) and your rule, Above or Below plus the threshold.
  • The current value, a bar that fills as it nears your line, and the gap still to go: percent of the price, pts of APR for funding, bps for basis. Once the line is met the gap reads Met.
  • A status pill, Paused, Armed or Triggered, with a note under it: not checking, watching, feed delayed, loading, no value, can’t notify, or the time since this window first saw the line met.
  • A header summary such as Checks every 15s in the background (desktop) or Checks every 15s in this tab (web, 20s for funding and basis), and a notification chip: System notifications on desktop; in a browser Enable notifications, Notifications on, Notifications blocked or No notifications here.
  • The source under the title (CoinGecko, Binance, Hyperliquid or Hyperliquid · DexScreener) and the age of the reading in the freshness pill on the right of the header.
  • When the alert follows another widget, a chip such as ← Price chart · SOL with an unlink button takes the place of the asset menu.

How to use it

  • Select the widget and click it again, or press Enter. The metric switch, asset menu, direction switch and threshold box show only while it is active, and Arm and Pause need it active too.
  • Choose Price, Funding APR or Basis. Switching resets the threshold (100000 for price, 50 for funding APR, 0.5 for basis) and pauses the alert.
  • Pick the asset and Above or Below. Price lists the 48 catalog coins by ticker. Funding APR and Basis list only SOL, JUP, WIF, BONK, JTO, POPCAT, FARTCOIN, RENDER, W, MOODENG, ME and USELESS. Above fires at or above the threshold, Below at or below it.
  • Type the threshold and press Enter or click away to save it; Esc discards the edit. Pasted values such as $65,000 or 0,5 are cleaned up.
  • Press Arm to start checking and Pause to stop. A new alert starts paused, and Arm stays disabled until there is a live value and a valid threshold. In a browser the first Arm asks for notification permission; if you decline, the widget shows Notification permission was not granted and stays paused.
  • Use the refresh icon in the header to read the value now. The link icon that appears on the row on hover opens the coin on CoinGecko or the perp on Hyperliquid.
  • To make the alert follow a Price chart, Prices, Watchlist or Solana edge widget, drag from the handle on the right edge of that widget to the handle on the left edge of the alert. The alert then watches that widget's asset, pauses when the asset changes and waits for you to arm it again. Alerts covers edges in full.

Settings

Price alert settings
SettingWhat it does
RuleMetric, asset, direction and threshold, as above. Each metric keeps its own asset choice, and changing the metric resets the threshold and pauses the alert.
Threshold limitsUp to 24 characters. Price is in US dollars and must be above 0. Funding APR and basis are percentages and can be negative, and funding is negative when shorts pay. Until the value is valid the box shows a message such as Enter a threshold or Price must be above $0.
Armed or pausedArm and Pause. The state is saved with the board, so an armed alert is still armed after a restart.

Data and refresh

  • Price is the latest CoinGecko quote in US dollars, with Binance as the fallback for 12 majors: BTC, ETH, SOL, BNB, XRP, ADA, DOGE, AVAX, LINK, DOT, LTC and TRX. On desktop, a CoinGecko Demo key saved under Connections is used.
  • Funding APR is Hyperliquid's current hourly funding rate times 24 times 365, in percent; positive means longs pay shorts. Basis is the Hyperliquid perp mark minus the Solana spot price, divided by spot, in percent, where spot is the deepest DexScreener pair with the asset as base token; negative means the perp trades below spot.
  • The widget reads price every 15 seconds and funding and basis every 20 seconds. On desktop, the main process also checks every armed alert on every saved board every 15 seconds, and once at start-up.

Good to know

  • While your B Cash access is active and B Cash watches the board, B Cash takes over the price notifications of that board: it sets a quiet baseline and counts later crossings roughly every 30 seconds, outside widget rendering. Funding APR and basis rules stay standalone. See Board Agent. The following behaviours describe the standalone alert.
  • An alert fires once when the value reaches the line, then stays quiet until the value leaves it and reaches it again. If the line is already met when you arm it, it fires right away; a paused alert in that state says This one is already past its line, so arming it notifies you right away.
  • On desktop the check runs in the background for every saved board, including boards you do not have open, while the window is open or minimised. It stops when the window is closed, because there is no tray icon or background service. Notifications are operating system notifications titled like BTC price alert, with the board name at the start of the body: BTC price above $100000.00 at $100123.45. A second notification for the same alert within 5 minutes is dropped and not sent later.
  • On the web the widget does the checking, so an alert is checked only while its tab is visible and the widget is on screen. Pan it away, switch boards or hide the tab and checking pauses. There is no cooldown, and a reload while the line is still met notifies again.
  • One widget holds one rule, so add a widget for each line. An armed alert stays armed when a source fails. The widget shows Update delayed · showing the last reading with Retry, or Alert price is temporarily unavailable or Solana edge feed is temporarily unavailable when there is no earlier value. If a feed answers without your asset, it shows {ticker} {metric} is not available right now and says why.
  • Rules and their armed state travel in share links, so an armed alert arrives armed. Alerts covers the differences between web and desktop in full.

Pairs well with Prices, Price chart, Solana edge, Funding rates. See the Price alert widget page for a ready-made board.

Note

A Markdown note that sits on the board beside the chart or position it is about. It is saved with the board, makes no network request, and renders checklists you can tick.

Add panelOn the board, then Note. Also the Label button under Canvas tools in the Style tab, and Quick note on an empty board.
Works inWeb and desktop

What it shows

  • Formatted Markdown whenever the note is not being edited: headings, paragraphs, bold, italic, bullet and numbered lists, block quotes, horizontal rules, inline and fenced code, links and images. Plain https addresses become links, and a single Enter shows as a line break.
  • Task lines that start with - [ ] or - [x] as checkboxes. A ticked task turns grey and struck through.
  • While the note is active, an Edit and Preview switch and a count such as 42 words, followed by 2/5 done when the note has tasks.
  • For an empty note: Empty note, then Select it to write. (Switch to Edit to write. while active) and chips for the heading, bold, task, code and link syntax.

How to use it

  • Select the note and click it again, or press Enter, to activate it. It opens in Edit, a plain text box. A note you have just added is already active.
  • Write in Markdown. Keys typed in the note belong to the note, so Backspace and the arrow keys do not delete or move the widget.
  • Press Esc or click Preview to see the formatted text. Ctrl E (macOS: Cmd E) toggles between Edit and Preview, and the caret and scroll position come back where you left them.
  • Tick a task by switching to Preview and clicking the box. Cashboard rewrites that one [ ] or [x] in the text, so the change is saved and shows in Edit too.
  • Click a link to open it, in a new tab on the web or in your system browser on desktop. Click the empty canvas to leave the note.

Settings

Note settings
SettingWhat it does
TextThe note content, at most 100,000 characters, written in Edit. The box stops accepting input at the limit.
Title and lookStyle tab: Title (up to 80 characters; a new note is titled Note), background, accent, corners, shadow and position lock.

Data and refresh

  • None. A note makes no network request and needs no key.
  • The text is part of the board and updates as you type. The web build saves it in this browser, and desktop saves it in the local board database. Share links and Export this board carry the full text.

Good to know

  • Tables and strikethrough do not render, and raw HTML does not render as HTML. Use lists in place of tables.
  • Images load only from https addresses on a short list of hosts that token data already uses, such as CoinGecko, GeckoTerminal, Raydium, DexScreener, IPFS gateways, Arweave, Irys, Polymarket and Hyperliquid. Any other image shows as a grey chip with its alt text, or Image, and the tooltip Images only load from trusted hosts; an https address makes the chip a link. Images are capped at about 256 pixels tall.
  • Only https links open, and only without a username or password. Any other link shows as dotted underlined text with the tooltip Only https links open from a note.
  • Unlike standard Markdown, one Enter is a line break. A task needs text after its marker; a bare - [ ] stays an ordinary list item.
  • The word count and the Edit and Preview switch show only while the note is active. New notes start with the text Write something useful…, which you replace.
  • A note travels in share links and exports in full. Keep private text out of a board you share.
  • Notes that B Cash or a connected agent writes are ordinary notes. Their first line starts with the writer's name, such as B Cash ·. The morning brief note shows an Interpret button in Preview while your B Cash access is active; see Board Agent.

Pairs well with Price chart, Perps positions, Frame. See the Note widget page for a ready-made board.

Frame

A dashed, tinted rectangle with a label that marks a region of the board, such as a section for entries or for things you only watch. It draws a label and a count of the widgets inside it, and nothing else.

Add panelOn the board, then Frame. Also the Frame button under Canvas tools in the Style tab. The command palette has no Add frame entry; typing build frame offers one.
Works inWeb and desktop

What it shows

  • A rectangle with a dashed border and a translucent tint. A new frame is 900 by 560 board units, slate with a blue accent, at the back of the stack so widgets stay in front of it.
  • A header chip with a coloured dot and the label in capitals (Section by default), cut short if it does not fit.
  • A count such as 1 widget or 4 widgets beside the label, with the tooltip Widgets placed inside this frame. It counts widgets whose centre lies inside the frame, never other frames, and is hidden at zero.
  • A lock icon when the position is locked and, on hover, a trash button Remove frame. A frame has no widget header and no Duplicate button.

How to use it

  • Add the frame and drag its header to place it. Resize it from the corner handles while it is selected and unlocked, between 220 by 140 and 2,400 by 1,800 board units (pixels at 100% zoom).
  • Drop widgets onto it. They stay in front, so the frame reads as a backdrop.
  • Select the frame and open the Style tab to rename it with Frame label and to restyle or lock it.
  • Duplicate a selected frame with Ctrl D (macOS: Cmd D). Remove it with the trash button or with Delete.

Settings

Frame settings
SettingWhat it does
Frame labelThe text on the chip. 1 to 80 characters, trimmed. An empty value becomes Section.
LookBackground (drawn at 70% opacity so the grid shows through), Accent (the dashed edge and the dot), Corners, Shadow and Lock position, all in the Style tab. A locked frame cannot be dragged or resized.
TitleStyle tab. Never drawn on the board. It names the frame in command palette Jump to entries and for screen readers, and starts as Section frame.

Data and refresh

  • None. A frame reads no data, needs no key and has no loading or error state. It travels in share links with its label.

Good to know

  • Dragging a frame by its header, alone or as part of a selection, carries the widgets whose centre is inside it. Locked widgets stay where they are, and so do widgets you selected along with the frame, since those move anyway. When two frames move together, only the first selected frame carries its contents. Resizing a frame and nudging it with the arrow keys move nothing inside it. A selection box that starts outside a frame and crosses its edge selects the frame too. Start and finish the box inside the frame to pick only its contents.
  • A frame does not clip, and it has a label and nothing else: no description and no nesting. A widget hanging half outside still counts if its centre is inside. Removing a frame leaves its widgets where they are.
  • Tidy up the board leaves frames where they are and arranges the other widgets as if the frames were not there, so widgets can end up outside the frame they were in. Locked widgets stay put as well.
  • The command palette lists each frame as Jump to Section frame until you change its Title. Give frames distinct titles if you use Jump to to find them.

Pairs well with Note.

Web app

A real website on the board, in its own isolated browser session, so TradingView, a perp exchange or a block explorer can sit beside your widgets. Any address runs in Cashboard Desktop. The web build embeds only a short list of read-only embedded dashboards, in a sandboxed frame, and shows a card that opens the address in a new tab for every other address.

Add panelPartners, then DuckFacts leaderboard or DuckFacts movers, or Embedded dashboards, then a card such as DefiLlama Base TVL (web and desktop). For any other address: On the board, then Custom app (desktop only). Also Add web app, or the name of a DuckFacts or embedded dashboard card, in the command palette. The link icons in other widgets add a Web app with that page loaded, on desktop.
Works inDesktop, limited on the web
NeedsCashboard Desktop for Windows or macOS to run any address. No key and no connection. In the browser only the embedded dashboards run, and any other Web app is a card that opens the address in a new tab.

What it shows

  • A toolbar with Back and Forward (hidden when the widget is narrow), Reload, an address bar, Quick launch, and an arrow that opens the page in your browser (https addresses only). A thin bar under it animates while a page loads, and a plain http address shows Not secure in red. Below the toolbar sits the live page, or a Snapshot image of its last frame while it is paused.
  • Quick launch: nine venues in this order, DexScreener, GeckoTerminal, Hyperliquid, pump.fun, Raydium, Zora, Clanker, Polymarket and TradingView, each with a one-line description. The one you are on is tagged Current.
  • Under the title, the site and isolated session, for example app.hyperliquid.xyz · isolated session. The pill on the right of the header reads Not loaded, Loading…, Live, Snapshot or Paused, and the i button beside it lists the limits.
  • Panels in place of the page when it cannot run: Opening {site}…, 3 pages are already live with Activate this one, a snapshot marked Snapshot · N of 3 pages live (N is how many are live) with Activate, or a failure panel.
  • Web build, embedded dashboards: the same address bar and Quick launch, an arrow (Open in a new tab) that opens the page in a tab, and below them the page in a frame. A line Loading {site}… shows until the frame has loaded. The line under the title reads Embedded from {site} · {host}, for example Embedded from DuckFacts · dashboard.duckfacts.xyz, the header pill reads Live embed or Paused, and the i button lists the limits.

How to use it

  • Add the widget on desktop. It opens https://app.hyperliquid.xyz and is titled Web. A link icon in another widget adds one with that page instead.
  • Type in the address bar and press Enter; Esc cancels. A full address works with or without https://. A bare word such as hl, tv or gt, or a venue name, is a venue search: one match opens it, several show Several venues match “text”. Pick one below. The grid button opens Quick launch to pick a venue.
  • For a plain http address, Cashboard asks This address uses unencrypted HTTP. Open it anyway? before it loads anything. If you decline it shows Not opened: the address uses unencrypted HTTP.
  • Sign in inside the widget. A page may open one sign-in window titled Secure sign-in that shares the widget's session. Further pop-ups are blocked.
  • Click Activate or Activate this one to bring a snapshot back to life. Activating a page when three are live pauses an older one, which drops to a snapshot.
  • Click the arrow in the toolbar, Open in your browser, for a site that refuses to run inside Cashboard.
  • Web build: open the Partners group (DuckFacts, Cashboard's partner) or the Embedded dashboards group in the Add panel and click a card, or search the command palette for its name, for example DuckFacts leaderboard. Select the widget, then click it again to use the page. Until then the board takes clicks and scrolling, so the frame stays inert while you move around the canvas.
  • Web build: type another address from the embed list in the address bar to switch the frame to it. An address that is not on the list turns the widget back into a card that opens it in a new tab.

Settings

Web app settings
SettingWhat it does
AddressThe only setting. http or https, up to 2,048 characters. An address you type or pick from Quick launch is saved into the widget, so the board reopens on it. Pages you reach by clicking links inside the site are not saved.
Title and lookStyle tab: Title (new widgets start as Web, or with the link's name when added from a link icon; the page's own name is not copied), background, accent, corners, shadow and position lock.

Data and refresh

  • No Cashboard data provider. The site loads directly from its own servers into the widget's browser view, and Cashboard does not proxy it.
  • Each widget has its own persistent session. Cookies, storage and cache survive restarts and switching boards, and are separate from every other widget and from your browser.
  • Up to 3 pages are live at once on the open board, and the rest show a snapshot until you activate them. Every Web app on the open board still loads its page when the board opens. There is no refresh interval of its own: the page updates as the site dictates, and Reload reloads it.
  • Web build, any address that is not on the embed list: nothing is embedded or proxied. The card stores the address and opens it in a new tab, where your browser's own logins apply.
  • Web build, embedded dashboards: your browser loads the page straight from the site's server into a sandboxed frame, so the site sees your IP address as it would for any visit, and gets only https://cashboard.live as the referrer. Cashboard does not proxy the page and cannot read what it shows. The numbers, definitions and refresh rate are the site's own. The embed list is exact hosts and page patterns: DuckFacts widgets (dashboard.duckfacts.xyz), DefiLlama chart pages, Dune embeds, L2BEAT project pages, TradingView embed widgets, GeckoTerminal pool pages, Hyperscan, HypurrScan and Validator Queue. DuckFacts is Cashboard's partner; the other sites are independent and embedded only because they allow it. The Partners and Embedded dashboards cards are the tested addresses, and the Dune ones are community queries whose definitions belong to their authors.
  • Web build, embedded dashboards: the frame can run scripts and open links in a new tab. It cannot navigate Cashboard to another address, submit forms, open dialogs, save files or use the camera, microphone or location. The pages are read-only views: no swap or trade page is on the list.

Good to know

  • Downloads are blocked, and so is every permission request a page makes, including camera, microphone, notifications and location. A page whose certificate cannot be verified is not opened, and there is no override.
  • Deleting the widget, or deleting the board that holds it, erases that widget's logins, cookies, storage and cache. Closing the app and switching boards keep them. Undo brings a deleted widget back, but the login it held is already gone. A duplicated, imported or shared copy gets a new session and starts logged out.
  • A page pauses and shows its snapshot below 60% board zoom, while the widget is being moved, while it is partly outside the canvas or smaller than 80 by 80 pixels, and while Quick launch or a failure panel is open. The snapshot carries Zoom in to use this page or Bring the whole widget into view to use it.
  • Failure panels name the site and a cause: {site} won't open inside Cashboard, You're offline, Can't find {site}, {site} isn't responding, {site} has an invalid certificate, {site} keeps redirecting, {site} sent an empty or broken page, The page stopped responding or Couldn't load {site}. The Chromium error code sits under the title, with Try again, Open in your browser, Pick another site or Edit address. Some sites refuse to run inside other apps or block sign-in from embedded browsers; open those in your browser.
  • On the web, the plain Custom app card in the Add panel is dimmed with a Desktop badge, and the palette entry Add web app carries the hint Desktop app. Both open a dialog headed Web app runs in the desktop app. The Partners and Embedded dashboards cards and their palette entries are not dimmed. On a board that already holds a Web app with another address, the card shows the site name, Open in a new tab and the text Live web apps are desktop-only, and you can change its stored address.
  • Web build, embedded dashboards: up to 3 frames are live at once. A fourth shows 3 embedded pages are already live with Activate this one, which pauses the frame that went live first. Below 60% board zoom the frame is removed and Zoom in to use this page shows, and it loads again when you zoom back in. Both states read Paused in the header pill, and the Open in a new tab arrow stays.
  • Web build, embedded dashboards: if a frame stays blank, the site may refuse to be embedded, and the arrow opens it in a tab instead. DefiLlama sends both an X-Frame-Options header that blocks other sites and a newer rule that allows them. Chromium browsers follow the newer rule and show the page; other browsers have not been tested. DuckFacts embeds only its /widget/ pages. The movers card asks for the daily window because its weekly and monthly rank history was still building when the card was added, and those windows show no movers until it is ready.
  • Share links carry the address, and a board you receive can point a Web app anywhere. On the web a Web app is framed only when its address is on the embed list, whoever made the board, and every other address stays a card that opens in a new tab. The review screen lists every web address before you add the board.

Pairs well with Price chart, Note. See the Web app widget page for a ready-made board.

Frequently asked questions

Do price alerts work when Cashboard is closed?

No. On Cashboard Desktop an armed alert is checked every 15 seconds for every saved board while the app window is open or minimised, and it stops when the window is closed, because there is no tray icon or background service. On the web an alert is checked only while its tab is open and visible and the Price alert widget is on screen.

Can I set a funding or basis alert on Bitcoin or Ethereum?

No. Funding APR and Basis alerts work only for 12 Solana assets: SOL, JUP, WIF, BONK, JTO, POPCAT, FARTCOIN, RENDER, W, MOODENG, ME and USELESS. Price alerts work for any of the 48 coins in the catalog, including Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Does moving a frame move the widgets inside it?

Yes, when you drag the frame by its header. It carries the widgets whose centre lies inside it, except locked widgets. Resizing the frame or nudging it with the arrow keys moves the frame alone.

Why is Custom app dimmed in the browser?

Embedding any site runs only in Cashboard Desktop, where each Web app gets its own isolated session. The web build dims the card, marks it Desktop and opens a dialog instead of adding the widget. The browser version does embed a short list of read-only embedded dashboards in a sandboxed frame: add them from the Partners group (DuckFacts) or the Embedded dashboards group. A Web app with any other address shows a card that opens it in a new tab.

Are my notes and alerts included when I share a board?

Yes. A share link carries note text, frame labels, widget titles, Web app addresses and alert rules, including whether an alert is armed. Only wallet addresses, manual holdings and paper trading positions are removed, and only from the widgets that hold them. Keep private text out of a board before you share it.
