Your first board in ten minutes

Open the web app, pick a template or an empty board, add a widget, then rename and restyle it. You finish with a saved board of your own, with no account and no wallet to connect.

Documentation menu

Open the web app

The web app is free, needs no account and saves everything in your browser. These steps take you from a blank tab to a board you can keep.

  1. 1

    Open the app

Go to cashboard.live/#app, or press Open app in the header of these docs. A short Opening your board… message shows while the app loads.

  2. 2

    Choose a layout

On a first visit the canvas shows a picker headed Start from a real board. Its 12 tiles each draw the widgets they place, with a description and a footer such as 01 · 9 widgets · live data. Click a tile to fill your empty board with that template, or click Or start with an empty board at the bottom.

  3. 3

    Find your way around

The left panel has four tabs: Add, Boards, Style and Connections. The top bar holds the board name, the save status, the Select and Hand tools, undo and redo, Share and Commands (icons only on narrow windows). On a phone the panel sits behind the Open dashboard tools button at the top left.

Pick a starting point by goal

A template is a board with live widgets already placed. Choose the one nearest to what you watch, then delete what you do not need. Each template name links to its own page, where you can read what the board holds and open it.

You can add a template later without touching the boards you have. In the Boards tab, open New from template, or press Ctrl K (macOS: Cmd K) and search for New board from template. Both create a new board next to the others.

Add your first widget

Two routes add the same widgets. The Add panel is for browsing and has no search box. The command palette is where search lives. On an empty board you also get three shortcuts under Start with one useful signal: Live prices, Price chart and Quick note.

From the Add panel

  1. 1

    Open the Add tab

The Add tab holds eleven groups: Intelligence tools, Markets, Your positions, Risk and flows, Solana, Hyperliquid, Base, Arbitrum, Robinhood, Ethereum and On the board. Every group starts folded, so you see eleven headings, each with a count.

  2. 2

    Unfold a group

Click a heading such as Markets. Cards sit two to a row. Cashboard remembers which groups you opened, in this browser.

  3. 3

    Click a card

Click Prices. The widget appears in the middle of what you are looking at, in a free spot when there is one. The camera does not move. On a phone the panel closes behind it.

  4. 4

    Use it straight away

A widget you add is already active. In Prices, the box that reads Search 48 assets adds coins, up to 12, and clicking a coin chip removes it.

From the command palette

  1. 1

    Open the palette

Press Ctrl K on Windows or Cmd K on macOS, or click Commands in the top bar. Press Esc to close it.

  2. 2

    Type what you want

The box reads Search actions, or list widgets: btc chart, funding, odds. The match is a plain, case-insensitive search of command names, so funding finds Add funding rates and chart finds Add price chart.

  3. 3

    Run it

Move with the arrow keys and press Enter. The widget lands on the board exactly as a card from the panel does.

  4. 4

    Add several at once

Type a list such as prices, chart and funding. The first row becomes Build Prices, Price chart, Funding rates with the hint 3 widgets. Press Enter to place all three as one packed block, and the camera then fits the result. A phrase the palette does not recognise is skipped, and the hint names the first one.

Select a widget, then use it

The canvas is also what you scroll, so a widget has two states. Selected means highlighted. Active means it takes clicks, typing and the scroll wheel. The split keeps a stray swipe or click from landing inside a widget when you only meant to move the board.

  1. 1

    Click a widget once

A ring appears around it, resize handles show on its corners and edges, and a pill at the bottom reads Click to use this widget. It is selected, not active.

  2. 2

    Scroll over it

The board pans and the widget stays put. A click on its body only selects it.

  3. 3

    Activate it

Click the selected widget again, double-click it, or press Enter. Now its buttons, tabs, search boxes and scrolling lists work. Several widgets show their editing fields, such as an address box or a coin search, only while active.

  4. 4

    Hand control back

Press Esc or click an empty spot on the canvas. Scrolling moves the board again.

A widget you add starts active, since you probably want to set it up. Widgets that arrive with a template or a shared board start unselected, so your first click on one only selects it.

To move around the board, scroll the wheel or swipe with two fingers to pan, or drag with the middle mouse button. Dragging an empty part of the canvas draws a selection box, and the Hand tool pans instead. Hold Ctrl (macOS: Cmd) and scroll, or pinch, to zoom between 20% and 200%. Fit the board on screen, the button in the bottom-left corner, or Shift 1 frames every widget.

Move, resize and tidy

  1. 1

    Move a widget

Drag it by its title bar. With grid snapping on, the default each time you open the app, it jumps from grid line to grid line. The grid icon in the top bar turns snapping off and on.

  2. 2

    Resize it

Select the widget, then drag a corner dot or an edge line. A widget can be 220 to 2400 px wide and 140 to 1800 px tall.

  3. 3

    Nudge it

With a widget selected, the arrow keys move it 1 px and Shift with an arrow moves it 10 px. Alt with an arrow resizes it. Nothing happens to a locked widget.

  4. 4

    Tidy up

Click the tidy icon in the top bar, which needs two or more widgets, or run Tidy up the board from the palette. It packs the widgets into rows with 24 px gaps and keeps every size. Frames and locked widgets stay where they are.

  5. 5

    Duplicate, remove, undo

Hover a title bar to reveal its duplicate and remove icons. Ctrl D duplicates the selected widgets, and Delete or Backspace removes them with no confirmation. The undo and redo icons in the top bar, or Ctrl Z and Ctrl Shift Z, keep 100 steps, and a whole drag or resize counts as one.

The complete list of keys is in Keyboard shortcuts. How the camera, frames and locking work is in Boards and canvas.

Name and style your board

  1. 1

    Rename the board

Click the board name at the left of the top bar and type. Every keystroke renames it. A name has to be 1 to 80 characters, otherwise the top bar reports Save failed.

  2. 2

    Rename a widget

Click the widget once, open the Style tab and look under Selection. Type in Title. Clear the box and the widget goes back to its own name, such as Prices.

  3. 3

    Change the board's look

In Style, under Canvas, pick one of eight colours: Slate, White, Stone, Sky, Mint, Lavender, Sand or Rose. Then set Grid (Dots, Lines, None), Grid spacing (Compact, Regular, Large) and Grid strength (Soft, Balanced, Strong). Show minimap toggles the overview in the bottom-right corner, which appears only on wider windows.

  4. 4

    Style one widget

With a widget selected, Style offers Background (ten colours), Accent (seven), Corners (Square, Soft, Round) and Shadow (None, Soft, Lifted). On an ordinary widget the accent shows as its border while the widget is selected. Lock position freezes it in place.

  5. 5

    Mark out sections

Under Canvas tools, Frame adds a dashed, labelled box you can place behind widgets, and Label adds a note. Dragging a frame carries the widgets whose centre is inside it, and resizing it moves nothing.

Where your boards are saved

Boards save themselves about half a second after a change. The top bar shows Saving, then Saved locally (words on wide windows, an icon on narrow ones). On the web they live in your browser's local storage for cashboard.live. There is no account and no cloud sync.

WhereIn this browser, on this device, under cashboard.live.
Not shared withOther browsers, other browser profiles, other devices or a different site address. Each starts with its own empty My board.
What wipes themClearing site data or cookies for cashboard.live, or a browser set to clear them when it closes. Cashboard keeps no backup copy.
Blocked storageIf the browser refuses to store data, the app says Browser storage is unavailable. Changes will last only in this tab; export the board from Commands before closing it.
Several boardsThe Boards tab lists them, most recently changed first. Create board asks for a name, and the copy icon beside a board duplicates it as <name> copy.
Deleting a boardThe bin icon asks you to confirm, and the deletion cannot be undone. The last remaining board cannot be deleted.

Back up with Export

  1. 1

    Export the open board

Press Ctrl K, type export and press Enter on Export this board. The browser downloads a file named after the board, for example my-board.json for My board.

  2. 2

    Repeat for other boards

Export covers the open board only. Switch to another board and run it again.

  3. 3

    Restore it

On any browser, press Ctrl K and choose Import a board, then pick the file. It arrives as a new board with (import) after its name, for example My board (import), and never replaces an existing one.

Watch a wallet without connecting it

You can follow a wallet by pasting its public address. You do not connect a wallet and the widget asks for no signature. A seed phrase or private key belongs in no field.

  1. 1

    Add the widget

In the Add tab, unfold Your positions and click Portfolio.

  2. 2

    Choose watch-only

At the top of the widget, pick Watch-only address. The other choice, Manual portfolio, lets you type coins and amounts instead.

  3. 3

    Pick the network

The network list starts on Base and names 15 networks. BNB Chain and Avalanche are in the list but have no data provider, so they do not load.

  4. 4

    Paste the address

Paste a public address into the address box, whose placeholder reads 0x public address or Solana public address. It saves as soon as the address is complete and valid, with no Enter needed. The widget repeats the rule: Public address only. No seed phrase, private key or signing.

  5. 5

    Read the result

You get a total, an allocation strip and a holdings table, refreshed every 60 seconds. Add Perps from the same group to follow Hyperliquid positions by a 0x address. Add Net worth to total the portfolios on the board, with Hyperliquid positions included by default.

Share your board

  1. 1

    Open the share dialog

Click Share in the top bar (an icon on narrow windows). The dialog is titled Share this board and shows a Share link.

  2. 2

    Copy the link

Click Copy, then send the link anywhere. The board travels inside the link, in the part of the address after #, which browsers do not send when they request a page. The link is a snapshot, so after you edit the board, copy a new one.

  3. 3

    What the receiver sees

A review screen headed Someone shared a workspace with you. It lists the board name, the widget types and any external web addresses. Nothing is saved until they click Add to my boards, which creates a new board of their own. Not now discards it.

  4. 4

    On the desktop app

A desktop window has no address bar. Open Share, paste the link into Open a link someone sent you and click Open.

When to move to Cashboard Desktop

Stay on the web while public data is enough. Move to Cashboard Desktop when you need something a browser tab cannot hold.

Where to go next

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account or a wallet to start?

No. The web app is free, has no sign-in and works with public data. To watch a wallet you paste its public address, and you never have to connect a wallet to do it.

Why does scrolling over a widget move the whole board?

Because the widget is selected but not active. Click it once more, double-click it or press Enter to activate it, and its own lists scroll. Press Esc or click an empty part of the canvas to give scrolling back to the board.

My boards disappeared. What happened?

Boards live in your browser's local storage for cashboard.live. Clearing site data, or opening Cashboard in another browser, profile, device or site address, shows a fresh empty board. There is no cloud copy to restore from, so use an exported file with Import a board, or open a share link you saved earlier.

Can I find a widget by name?

Yes, in the command palette. Press Ctrl K (Cmd K on macOS), type part of the name such as funding or chart, and press Enter. The Add panel has no search box.

How do I move a board to another device?

Boards do not sync. Copy a share link from the Share dialog and open it on the other device, or export the board as a file and import it there. A link removes wallet addresses and paper positions, and an export file keeps them.

Is the web app limited compared with the desktop app?

Most widgets run in both. Two need the desktop app, Dune query and Custom app. Desktop also adds saved connections and alerts that keep checking while the window is minimised.
