Board templates, files and share links

Cashboard has 12 built-in board templates and a local Library for reusable workstations and widget presets. A share link removes portfolio data, paper positions and followed wallets, but keeps notes, titles, the Swap fees account and alert rules. A full board export includes its configured data.

Documentation menu

Your workstation library

Press Library in the workspace toolbar. Workstations lists the built-in layouts and your saved ones. Choose the current board or another saved board, give the layout a name and press Save layout. Widget presets saves a selected widget, or accepts a JSON blueprint for an existing supported widget type and configuration.

Add a library item to the current board to place fresh copies below its existing content and fit the view. Existing widgets stay on the board. The whole addition is one undo step, and copies receive new widget ids. The view fit is not recorded, so undo leaves the view where it is. This differs from New from template, which opens a separate board.

Saving and importing library entries clears Portfolio addresses and holdings, Perps addresses, paper positions, followed wallets and the Swap fees referral account. Note text is empty and frame labels become Section unless you enable Include note and frame-label text when saving or importing. Titles, external URLs, event sources and other widget settings remain, so review those before distributing an exported library.

The library is local browser storage on the web and app-window storage on desktop. It does not sync. Export writes cashboard-workstation-library-v1.json; Import validates and merges that format, with a maximum of 50 entries and a file smaller than 2 MB. Neither library files nor share links include agent conversations, watch history or its access token. Applying a library layout does not start an agent watch.

The 12 templates

Cashboard ships 12 board templates. A template is a set of widgets already placed on the canvas, with every field that would hold your own data left empty. The table lists what each one contains, and each name links to its page on the site.

The names in the table are the titles a template gives its widgets, so they are labels you can change: select a widget and edit Title in the Style tab. The picker and the tool panel list the templates in the order shown here. The site lists all 12 under Board templates.

How a template opens

A template becomes your own board: a fresh copy that nothing links back to. There are four ways to start one.

  1. 1

    On your first visit

When Cashboard opens with a single empty board and you have not picked a layout yet, a picker titled Start from a real board. shows all 12 templates with a drawing of each layout. Pick one and it replaces that empty board, which takes the template's name. Or start with an empty board skips the picker.

  2. 2

    From the tool panel

Open the Boards tab, expand New from template and pick a row. Each row shows the template name and its widget count, and hovering shows its description. A new board opens and the board you were on stays saved.

  3. 3

    From the command palette

Press Ctrl K on Windows or Cmd K on macOS, type the template name and run New board from template: Solana Desk (or the name of any other template).

  4. 4

    From the website

Every page under Board templates has an Open this board button. That button is a share link, so Cashboard first shows the review screen described in Open a link someone sent you, and the board is created when you choose Add to my boards.

A copy each timeEvery use creates a new board with new widget ids. Editing it never changes the template, and using the same template twice gives two boards with the same name. Rename a board in the Board name field at the top left.
Your data starts emptyMy Hyperliquid positions (in Hyperliquid Desk and Perps Desk) waits for a public address. The three portfolio widgets in Portfolio wait for an address or for manual holdings. Paper trading starts with no positions.
What is not in a templateNo template contains a Price alert, a Note or a Web app widget, so a fresh template arms no alert and embeds no outside web page.
Starting viewThe board opens at 78% zoom on a dotted grid with the minimap on, on a canvas tint chosen for that template.

Export and import a board file

Export writes the whole board to a JSON file on your device, and import turns such a file back into a new board. Use them for backups and for moving a board between devices. The web app and the desktop app use the same board format.

  1. 1

    Open the command palette

Press Ctrl K on Windows or Cmd K on macOS. Export and import live only in the palette: the top bar and the tool panel have no button for them.

  2. 2

    Run Export this board

The board downloads as a .json file named after it: the board name in lowercase, with every run of characters other than letters and digits turned into one hyphen, so Solana Desk becomes solana-desk.json. A name with no letters or digits gives cashboard-board.json.

  1. 1

    Run Import a board

In the same palette, Import a board opens a file picker for .json files.

  2. 2

    Choose the file

Cashboard checks the whole file against the board format of the build you are running. If the check passes, your current board is saved, a new board named <name> (import) is created and opened, and Board imported shows in the top bar for three seconds.

  • Import never overwrites a board. Importing the same file twice gives two boards.
  • The widgets get new ids. The camera and the canvas style come from the file, and the created and updated times start again.
  • The check is all or nothing. A file that is not valid JSON, has a different format version or contains a widget that fails validation adds nothing, and the top bar shows the error text for three seconds. Cashboard does not convert older formats and does not import part of a file.
  • Nothing is removed on import. Whatever the file holds, addresses included, lands in the new board.

Share a board as a link

A share link is a web address that contains the board itself, so the person who opens it needs nothing from you except the link. Cashboard has no share service, no account and no short links behind it.

  1. 1

    Open the Share dialog

Select Share in the top bar. In a narrow window only the share icon shows, and its name is Share this board.

  2. 2

    Wait for the link

The dialog Share this board builds the link on your own device, and the Share link field reads Building the link… until it is ready. If you change the board while the dialog is open, the link is rebuilt.

  3. 3

    Check what it holds

Widgets counts every widget on the board, notes and frames included. Kinds counts the different widget types. When the board has Web app widgets, an amber box named External apps included lists each address.

  4. 4

    Copy and send

Select Copy, which reads Copied for two seconds. If the browser refuses, the dialog says Copying failed. Select the link and copy it manually. Clicking the field selects its text.

The addresshttps://cashboard.live/#app?board= followed by the data. On the web build the start of the address is the site you are on. The desktop app always uses https://cashboard.live.
Where the data sitsIn the fragment, the part after #. A browser does not send the fragment when it requests a page, so the page request for a share link carries no board.
What it containsThe board name, the camera, the canvas style and every widget with its position, size, stacking order, title, lock state, style and settings, after the removals listed below. The board id, the widget ids and the timestamps are left out.
EncodingJSON, compressed with deflate when that makes it smaller, then written as base64url. The first character is 1 for compressed data and 0 for plain. This is packaging, not encryption: anyone can decode it.
Size limitCashboard refuses to open a link longer than 64,000 characters, or one that unpacks to more than 512,000 bytes, and answers This share link is too large to open. The 12 templates produce links of roughly 530 to 870 characters.
Size check when sharingThe Share dialog does not check the length. A board with very long notes can produce a link you can copy but nobody can open, so open a long link yourself before you send it.

Open a link someone sent you

Opening a link never saves anything by itself. Cashboard decodes the board, shows a review screen and waits for your choice.

On the web

  1. 1

    Open the link

Open it in a browser. Cashboard loads and decodes the board in the page.

  2. 2

    Read the review screen

It is headed Shared board and Someone shared a workspace with you. It shows a Board name field filled in from the link (80 characters at most), the number of widgets with their types sorted from A to Z, and, if the board has Web app widgets, an amber card named This board loads external sites with their addresses.

  3. 3

    Choose

Add to my boards saves your current board, then creates a new board with new widget ids under the name in the field and opens it. Not now leaves without saving anything. Either way the address bar goes back to #app, and your other boards are untouched.

On desktop

  1. 1

    Copy the link

Copy it from the message you received. The desktop window has no address bar, so you paste the link into the app instead of following it.

  2. 2

    Paste it into Share

Select Share in the top bar, click the Open a link someone sent you field (placeholder Paste a Cashboard share link), paste, and select Open. The field accepts the full address, the part starting at #app?board=, or only the data string.

  3. 3

    Review and choose

The same review screen replaces the board. Add to my boards and Not now work as they do on the web.

The review screen lists widget types and outside addresses only. Notes, widget titles, the wallets in Smart money, the Swap fees account and alert rules become visible after you add the board, so check these once it is open:

  • Each Price alert arrives in the state the sender left it, armed or paused. Alerts explains how armed alerts are checked.
  • Links inside a note open in a new tab, so treat them like links in any message.
  • A Web app widget loads its address inside the board on desktop. On the web it is a card with an Open in a new tab button.
Messages for a link that does not open
MessageWhat it means
This share link is too large to open. The link is longer than 64,000 characters, or it unpacks to more than 512,000 bytes.
This share link is malformed. The data does not start with 0 or 1, or it holds characters a link cannot carry. A link that was changed on the way can cause this.
This browser cannot open compressed share links. The browser lacks the built-in decompression the link needs. Try another browser.
This share link does not contain a board. The data decoded, but it is not a board.
This share link was made by a newer version of Cashboard. The format version in the link is not the one this build understands.
That does not look like a Cashboard share link.Desktop paste only: the text you pasted holds no board data.
A long technical messageThe board decoded, but a widget or setting failed the board check, for example a widget type this build does not have, which can happen on an older desktop build.

On the web the message appears in a red banner above the canvas with a Dismiss button, and the link stays in the address bar. On desktop it appears under the paste field. Your boards are not touched either way.

Checklist for sharing a board safely

Work through this list on a copy of the board, then build the link from the copy.

  1. Open the Boards tab, hover your board and select Duplicate board. The copy is named <name> copy, and your own board stays as it is. A duplicate keeps every address, so the next steps matter.
  2. Remove every Smart money and Swap fees widget from the copy. In Smart money you can instead stop following each wallet with the X next to its name. Swap fees has no control that clears its account, so remove the widget.
  3. Read every Note, widget title, frame label and the board name. Whatever is typed there travels as written.
  4. Look at each address in the External apps included box. Addresses travel in full, including anything after a ?.
  5. Check the Price alert widgets. Select Pause alert on any you do not want the receiver to inherit armed.
  6. Compare Widgets and Kinds in the dialog with the board you meant to share.
  7. Test the link before you send it. On the web, open it in a private browser window and choose Add to my boards there; browsers normally discard a private window's storage when it closes. On desktop, paste it into Open a link someone sent you, add it, and delete the test board afterwards from the Boards tab.
  8. Send it only where you accept it being kept. A link that went to the wrong place cannot be withdrawn.

For backups, use Export this board and keep the file to yourself. See Boards and canvas for the rest of the board tools and Shortcuts for the palette.

Frequently asked questions

Does a share link include my wallet address?

Portfolio and Perps addresses, Paper trading positions, and wallets followed in Smart money and Smart money graph are removed from a share link. The Swap fees referral account, notes and widget titles remain. A full board export includes configured addresses.

Can I take a share link back after I send it?

No. The link contains the board itself and Cashboard keeps no record of links, so there is nothing to delete or expire. Anyone who holds the link can open it for as long as they keep it.

Why will my share link not open?

Cashboard shows the reason in a message. "This share link is too large to open" means the link is over 64,000 characters. "This share link is malformed" means the text was changed or cut on the way. A longer technical message means the board decoded but a widget or setting failed validation, which can happen when the link comes from a newer version than yours.

What is the difference between Export this board and Share?

Export this board writes a file with everything in the board and nothing removed, meant for your own backups and for moving a board to another device. Share builds a link from which Portfolio and Perps addresses, manual holdings and Paper trading positions have been removed, and that you can send to other people.

Does importing a board file overwrite my board?

No. Import always creates a new board named after the file's board with (import) added and gives its widgets new ids. Your existing boards stay as they are.

Does Cashboard see the boards I share?

Cashboard has no share service, so building a link and pasting one into the desktop app send nothing to it. On the web build, Vercel Web Analytics reports the page address, which for a share link includes the encoded board after the # sign. The desktop app has no analytics.
